Jauns gads / A New Year

As I promise yesterday, today is official First Autumn Day on our family calendar. Actually it’s First Day Back to School for Markus and Lauris and here is suddenly so quiet while Olivers sleeps that I can hear wind playing in the trees and somewhere sheep /caws making sounds. It so idyllic in the autumn, of course, as far as Olivers sleeps.

Man patīk, ka bērni iet skolā, ka viņiem ir skola, kur viņus gaida, ka skolā viņiem ir draugi un atsaucīgas skolotājas. Man patīk tā sajūta, ka rudnī ir jāiet uz skolu. Vairs nav karsts. Man liekas, ka rudenim daudz vairāk piedien tas jaunais sākums kā 1. janvārim.

I like that children are going to school, that they have a school where they are welcome, that  they have friends and supportive teachers. I like the feeling that you need to go to school in the autumn. No longer hot. There are foggy mornings. The sun only breaks through the maple red leaves for a short time. And there is such an uplifting feeling that you have to go to school. This morning Lauris admitted that he feels a little bit stressed about going to school and feels those strange butterflies in the tummy. I said I had them too as little girl every year. Even more, I had them as school’s teacher too. There is something special about unknown, clear new start. For me the First Day of School is more a new start then 1st January. Funny, but my New Year is today. Hopefully their new start is also today. I’m really looking forward all those brilliant and funny stories from school life and have a little celebration because it is a New Year for us.

Wish you all have a creative and happy New School Year!
